Some of the East Coast's best surfers are in town to premiere the movie chronicling their many adventures hitting the waves across the world.
"Spectacular Adventures" takes you to some of the world's best surf spots to see the pros take on the open water.
"Coming to Tybee Island we didn't really know what to expect with the waves but with Hurricane Bill out there we hoped to have a little bit of something," says Pro Alek Parker. While they were pleasantly surpised with the waves today, that wasn't the only thing. "There's a much larger surf scene on Tybee than we thought. Earlier today there were like 30 people out surfing and so we jumped in with them and also got to spread the word about our movie premiere tonight, " added Parker.
These wave riders are traveling city to city to show their many adventures surfing everywhere from the coast of North Carolina to places as exotic as the Galapagos Islands. "We just kind of collected all those trips and put it into one movie and it's just a cool movie. Its got a good vibe. It's really about havng fun with your friends, " says Pro Ben Bourgeois.
While we all know Tybee doesn't usually see waves quite like these, surfer Zander Morton says you can still learn and become quite good. "Guys from here can learn in small waves. We all pretty much grew up on the east coast and had small waves to learn from."
"Theres a lot more almost knowledge that you need to surf on the east coast. It takes more forcasting to know when good surf conditions are coming, " says Parker.
Huc-a-poo's is the locale for the Thursday night premiere and then these guys head off to Charleston and on up the coast, anticipating what strong surf Hurricane Bill will bring in. I
f you missed the premiere tonight you can learn more about the guys and their movie at Spectacular Adventures and you can pick up the movie from the local surf shops on Tybee.
