Michael brings 38 years of experience in broadcast journalism covering and presenting news on local, national, medical, investigative, and international platforms. He rejoined WJCL/FOX 28 in September, 2007 after serving New Vision Television as a consultant to 5 of their stations. New Vision Television now owns and operates WJCL with WJCL operating FOX28 for Parkin Broadcasting.

Michael’s news operations in Toledo, OH and Kansas City, MO were rated # 1. WJCL/FOX28 was profiled nationally on TV Guide Network in 13 episodes called MAKING NEWS: SAVANNAH STYLE in 2008.

Michael is a self-admitted "Tybee guy" and has logged 15 years living on the island and covering both the Coastal Empire and Low Country. He blogs on THECOASTALSOURCE.com. He also produced and directed a documentary on Coastal Jazz in Georgia as well as running campaigns for municipal candidates. "Local news is my first and enduring love," he says. "A lot of news happens here and being part of the positive energy at WJCL/FOX 28 drives me."

Previously, he served as VP/Executive Director of News Programming for WEATHERPLUS in building a 24/7 weather cable channel in the Netherlands. Michael led Peabody Award winning investigative teams in Chicago where he was awarded a Silver Gavel from the American Bar Association for his documentaries as well as a Freedom Award from the ACLU. He was Assistant News Director at WLS TV in Chicago as well as Executive News Producer. And, he was the Managing Editor at WCAU TV in Philadelphia. He is a three time Emmy winner and produced news coverage for ABC NEWS at two national conventions as well as delivering Chicago Bureau based investigative, political and aviation coverage for NIGHTLINE and WORLD NEWS TONIGHT.

He was the VP/Executive Producer of a national health program called HEALTH MATTERS and also produced medical coverage for 75 station affiliates called MED SOURCE and ADVANCES PLUS.

He is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who served the West African nation of Liberia. Domestically, he created recruiting campaigns for Volunteers in the 16 states Midwest Region.

At WJCL/FOX 28, Michael is involved in the daily news broadcasts as well as recruiting and coordinating community projects.
