(Jekyll Island, GA)- Today wraps up the
27th Annual Beach Music Festival and 2nd Annual BBQ Bash on Jekyll Island, but before it ends, a lot of BBQ will be consumed and a lot of calories will be burned off with dancing!
Saturday's BBQ Bash is sanctioned by the Georgia BBQ Association and competition will be stiff. Last year, more than 20 teams slow-cooked their meat overnight in advance of Saturday's competition.
One of the BBQ Bash contenders is Southern Soul BBQ on St. Simons Island. The restaurant recently made an appearance on two different national cable television shows. There will be many other BBQ "pit bosses" basting, smoking, roasting for a chance to get a championship trophy; a ceramic pink pig on a surfboard.
The Swingin Medallions make up the headline band. Dancers will lead the crowd in shag lessons.
The Beach Music Festival and BBQ Bash is free to attend. Parking to get onto the island is $5/car.
