Making News: Savannah Style by The Coastal Source

With the debut of TV Guide’s “Making News Savannah Style,” viewers were given a behind-the-scene look at what it’s really like to work at a low market, low funded local television station.

Although some episodes may seem to place the duopoly of WJCL and FOX28 in a dim light through the extensive coverage of unsatisfactory equipment as well as unfavorable workplace conditions, they show the reality of what it’s like for the underdog station to work through scandal and low ratings in their quest to reach the upper echelon of Savannah television.

On a lighter note, viewers were also given a chance to meet some of the talented personalities involved in WJCL’s news team including anchors Trish Hartman and Lyndy Brannen, reporters Jason Davis, Candace McCowan and Stephanie Simoni, as well as the man in charge of it all, News Director Michael Sullivan.

With the mixture of young, talented reporters as well as the experience of a knowledgeable news team, the often changing cast and crew at WJCL is promised to do good things for the local television market.
