AAA expects call volume for 2008 to be busier than previous years because this Independence Day falls on a Friday. Last year’s calls for the ‘Tow to Go’ service increased 350 percent from July 2006. AAA Auto Club South and Budweiser will protect everyone on the road for the Forth of July weekend by providing free rides home to intoxicated drivers and their cars. ‘Tow to Go’ will be available July 3 through July 6.
‘Tow to Go’ services are offered in Atlanta, Savannah, Nashville and throughout Florida. ‘Tow to Go’ provides a free confidential ride home and tow to anyone in a bar or restaurant who may have had too much to drink. Motorist can call 1-800-AAA-HELP. AAA and Budweiser encourage individuals to be or choose a ‘designated driver’ or call ‘Tow to Go’ for a safe ride home.
“Its not just fireworks that you should be planning ahead for this Independence Day weekend,” said Ed Schatzman, senior vice president of automotive services for AAA Auto Club South. “Please give the same thought and attention you would give to your cookout and fireworks display as you do to your safe ride home so no one gets behind the wheel while intoxicated.”
“Tow to Go is the only program that allows me to get the drunk driver and their car off the roads before they get in a car crash,” said Tim Allison, Supervisor and Tow Truck Driver for AAA Auto Club South. “I hope everyone understands that it is confidential and no one will ever know you used the service.”
“Anheuser-Busch and our wholesaler family are proud to partner with AAA Auto Club South to provide this life-saving service,” said Carol Clark, vice president of Corporate Social Responsibility for Anheuser-Busch Cos. “Working together, the ‘Tow to Go’ program has been helping keep our roadways and our families safe for the past decade.”
AAA Auto Club South is the fourth largest affiliate of AAA, with 80 branch offices serving more than 4.1 million members in Florida, Georgia, West and Middle Tennessee, and Puerto Rico. Since its founding in 1938, AAA Auto Club South has worked to protect and advance freedom of mobility and improve travel safety.
