I may regret writing this blog as half of you will think me and my coworkers are delusional, but some of you I know will relate.
Ok, so we all know that Savannah is a haunted town. It's even been listed as one of the most haunted cities in the country. Now I will admit I did go to the Pink House one night hoping to have an encounter like I had heard about from so many people. No such luck! So now I am sticking with the belief that ghosts come, not when you are looking, but when you are just minding your own business.
So a few weekends ago on a Saturday, myself and weekend anchor Kelly Foster were sitting here in the newsroom as we do each weekend. All of the sudden two sets of keys to the news vehicles went flying of the hooks on the wall. Now when I say flying, I mean they literally jumped off the hooks and landed about 10 feet away on the ground. No one walked by, no one hit the hooks, there was no one around!
Then the following weekend, on a Saturday once again, I was sitting at my desk when Kelly told me she had to tell me something. She proceeded to tell me that she just saw an image of someone standing at the desk near me. Alright, I know you think we are crazy but this is two people having these experiences and both of us witnessed the keys.
Well the next week I was getting ready in the makeup room for our show when our photographer Amanda said I had to come out and hear this discussion between sports anchor Frank Sulkowski and news anchor Casey Jones. So I walked out of the makeup room and they were talking about how someone who was going to be a guest on our show years ago died in the hall near my desk! They believe it may have been a heart attack or something like that but either way someone, long ago, took their last breaths in our newsroom. I think he could still be hanging around.
Here's what I did next…..it just so happened I had received a business card from a paranormal expert a few weeks before these "encounters" happened. I decided to call these guys and see if they can determine if we have a ghost. I plan on doing a feature profile piece on these ghost hunters in the near future and that will be the true test. I have to admit, I can't wait to see what happens. So Stay tuned for “Coastie the Ghosty Investigation”...until then.....BOO !
