The Home Depot sitting on Victory Drive in Savannah was filled with shoppers dripping water all over the floor from today's rain.
One of the store's managers, Joseph Montgomery, said, "They come in and they get batteries and flashlights, things like that to get prepared. This is the season."
We caught up with one shopper stocking up on gas cans before heading to the gas station to fill up with diesel to fuel his generator.
The eastside Savannah resident, Curtis Mincey, said, "I'm buying me a diesel fill-up for my generator."
On top of that he said he'd recently bought a ton of batteries and flashlights.
Montgomery said so far this season he's seen a steady flow of customers coming in to buy hurricane and store supplies, with an extra boost in business after Fay hit Florida.
In years past he said people tend to hold off until the storm is right at their door...then the store is bombarded.
