McIntosh County School Closings: Schools in McIntosh County will be closed on Thursday, August 21 due to weather. The following schools along with their phone numbers are: McIntosh County Academy (912-437-6691), McIntosh County Middle (912-437-6685), Oak Grove Intermediate (912-437-6655), and Todd Grant Elementary (912-437-6675).

Fay Falls On Tybee: Tropical storm Fay beat down on the Tybee Island shore. It was a surfer’s paradise with huge swells on the south end of the beach. A few souls braved the shoreline and walked along the beach. There has not been any reported damage from the storm.

Marine Shot By Friend: A marine shot during a party last week in Beaufort County has died. 21-year-old Tony Martinez Ramirez was shot by his friend, Lieutenant Corporal Patrick King. Investigators said King didn't think the gun was loaded when he pointed it at Ramirez' head and pulled the trigger. It happened at a party in Polk Village August 16th. Ramirez has now died and charges against King have been upgraded to involuntary manslaughter.

Beaufort County School Uniforms: Some big changes for kids in South Carolina. The Beaufort County school board approved school uniforms for elementary students. The new policy goes into effect next year. For now, committees will decide what the uniforms will look like. A decision on high school uniforms will be made in a few weeks.

Back To School Drives: This week is your last chance to donate to local school drives. In Chatham County there are several places to drop off uniforms, back packs, and supplies. There's the "Stuff the Bus" at Savannah Mall. Also, the Real Life Christian Fellowship in Port Wentworth, and the Kingdom Life Christian Fellowship, and some churches are also taking donations. The most needed items are calculators and binder notebooks.

Memorial Blood Drive: The mobile Savannah Community Blood Bank pulled up to Memorial and you're asked to donate. Dozens of people turned out to give blood today. Organizers hope to collect 150 pints of blood by tomorrow afternoon. That means at least 180 people need to donate. The hospital's COO did, and said it's important especially when a storm is so close. "The timing is good because with a storm coming and you never know what's around the corner, we want to make sure we have enough blood should anything happen," said COO Maggie Gill. You can still donate tomorrow between 11 am and 6 pm just by showing up at the hospital. If you donate, you'll also get the chance to win a shopping spree worth more than $200.
