ATLANTA (AP) - United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta will use a new campaign encouraging Georgians to "Live United" with a goal of raising $82.2 million over the next year.
The charity announced the campaign at a banquet that drew 600 to Atlanta's Fox Theatre Thursday.
Spokeswoman Malika White says the money will support programs providing services for the state's most vulnerable residents - from battered women to the homeless.
The organization's new theme urges would-be donors to "live united" by showing their concern for less fortunate neighbors through cash and volunteering.
