Q: Are you a cancer patient? Q: Is your family member facing cancer?
If you answered YES to either question, the American Cancer Society can help you.
Resources...
- 1-800-227-2345 and www.cancer.org
Available 24 hours a day, every day of the year, this free service provides information and support. Specially trained Cancer Information Specialists answer questions and connect people with local resources.
- Transportation Assistance
Lack of transportation sometimes leaves cancer patients with few options. Road to Recovery® is a program that provides transportation options for patients who are unable to find a way to treatments. Volunteer drivers provide rides for patients to and from treatments. If Road to Recovery is not available to you, there may be other transportation assistance available in the community.
- Educational Classes for People Facing Cancer
Knowledge is power, and the more you know about what is happening during cancer diagnosis and treatment, the better equipped you will be to handle each step of the journey. I Can Cope® is an educational program for people facing cancer and their families. Sessions are held through out the year in your local community. Call (912) 355-5196 for more information on upcoming classes.
- Breast Cancer Support
Breast cancer survivors provide one-on-one support and information to help individuals cope with breast cancer. Through Reach to Recovery®, specially trained survivors serve as volunteers, responding in person or by phone to the concerns of people facing breast cancer diagnosis, treatment or recovery.
