Some people are braving the chilly temperatures and spending two nights on a 25-foot lift in the Pooler Walmart parking lot.

Staff members from Canvas Church will spend the next two days and two hours on a 25-foot lift. That’s about three stories high. They were lifted up at 5:00 Wednesday evening, and they won’t be coming down until 9:00 Friday night.

The event is called Bikes or Bust, and the idea is to raise 101 bicycles for children in Savannah to wake up to on Christmas morning.

There’s already a list with the names of 101 children who need the bikes. They range in age from 4 to 13.

What the church needs from people are donations. Organizers say whether it's $5 or even $100, all the money will go to purchase the bikes.

If you want to watch the event from the top of the lift, live video will be streaming on the Web site.
