(Savannah, GA)- From homeowners looking to update their abode to children needing to pass the time, the 9th Annual Low Country Living Home and Garden Show seemed to offer something for everyone.
"We've got several remodeling projects, dreams we'd like to undertake and so we came to get ideas, which we did," said Larry Fuller who traveled from McIntosh County with his wife to attend the show.
Pace Lighting had one of the tallest and brightest displays in the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Some of the more contemporary light fixtures caught as much attention as the chandeliers loaded down with crystal and glass.
Other contemporary designs filled the large area occupied by
Savannah Kitchen and Bath. The local home design company invited a representative from
Fisher and Paykel Appliances to give demonstrations of a brand new, 36-inch glass and gas combination cooktop. "It's one-of-a-kind, offering the functionality of glass and the performance of gas," said Andy Ellithorpe of Fisher & Paykel. Cooking food on the cooktop is simple. Press a button, allow the burners on the smooth surface to rise about an inch, place the pot or pan on the burner, and ignite a flame. Professional chefs and foodies alike generally enjoy cooking with gas rather than using electric stoves.
Other vendors showcased less-fancy products and services. The appeal, however, was still there. "With the economy the way it is, people are tending to come and see us instead of spending lots of money on painting or refinishing," said Mike Vidan, the owner of
All American Pressure Cleaning.
