It's a powerful image, what appears to be the Virgin Mary on a window that stands over six feet tall. Owner Greg Sapp says you can see her veil, her hands, and even a dove above her head. "It just sort of impressed me and I just kind of had a sense that right off the bat, I knew it was Mary," said Sapp.
Greg and Debbie Sapp say the image appeared on a window at their house in 2006. The house was built in 1977 and the couple purchased it in 2005. Eventually the Sapps took the window down and brought it inside for protection. After it sat in their bedroom for quite some time they decided to share it.
The window is now housed in a place you wouldn't expect, Sapp's car wash business in Jesup. "It just became obvious to us through the time we had it and through other people that had seen it, that it was more than just something for us," said Sapp.
Sapp says people come in the mornings and evenings to pray the rosary. The window is in a glorified back office that oftentimes is filled with people. Sapp says people young and old come not only to pray, but to sit and look at the window. He says people see different things in it. "It's attracted some people from other states, actually from other countries," said Sapp. He’s had one lady travel all the way from California to see the widow.
This isn't the first time the Virgin Mary is believed to have appeared on different objects and it likely won't be the last. Sapp believes it is a gift and touches the lives of those who see it. "It's presented an opportunity for them to pray more, to learn more about their own faith...and puts them into a deeper connection with their faith and God," added Sapp.
The Sapps will continue to keep the widow at the car wash and welcome anyone who would like to come see it.

a website with photographs and more information about the window.
