Pitcher Richard Sullivan of the Savannah College of Art and Design was named the Florida Sun Conference and NAIA Region XIV Player of the Year after posting a dominant season both on the mound and at the plate for the Bees.
Sullivan, lead his team and the conference with 120 strikeouts on the season while compiling a 7-3 record and an ERA of 1.94. In addition, the powerful lefthander hit .248 with a SCAD-best five home runs.
Pitcher Adam Honeycutt, outfielder Matt Cox and second baseman Patrick Braswell joined Sullivan on the All Region Team as the Bees recorded a college best 33 wins this season on their way to a region playoff berth.
Honeycutt, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va. was one of the region’s most intimidating hurlers. In 42 innings of work, the right-hander fanned 42 batters while fashioning a 4-1 record to accompany eight saves.
Cox, a junior from Massillon, Ohio, was a constant catalyst for the Bees as the consummate leadoff hitter. In addition to hitting .343, the speedy outfielder also stole a team high 23 bases while driving in 31 runs.
Braswell, a freshman from Jacksonville, Fla. garnered several SCAD records during his first college baseball season including setting a mark with 28 doubles. In addition, Braswell paced the Bees with 47 RBI’s and a .378 average.
