Former Bee to Start in Savannah Frank Sulkowski

 Former Savannah College of Art and Design pitcher Richard Sullivan will start on the mound for the Rome Braves on Friday night at Historic Grayson Stadium. Selected by the Braves in the 11th round of the 2008 draft, Sullivan is the second SCAD baseball player ever selected in the Major League Baseball draft.

 

Sullivan, from Louisville, Ky. , holds five individual SCAD records and posted a 7-4 record and 2.36 ERA in 16 appearances (14 starts) with the Bees in 2008. He was named to the NAIA All-America second team and earned Florida Sun Conference and NAIA Region XIV Player of the Year honors.

 

Sullivan, 21, threw six complete games with the Bees in 2008, tying a college record with 122 strikeouts while walking just 19 as SCAD advanced to the NAIA Region XIV Tournament.

 

After signing with the Braves, Sullivan was assigned to Rookie-level Danville , where he went 2-0 with a 1.40 ERA in 4 starts. The left-hander earned a promotion to Rome in July and is 1-2 with a 3.07 ERA in 7 starts with the Braves.
