Frank's Army: Wildcat Cross Country Missing Crucial Runners at Meet by Richmond Hill

Thursday, September 25, 2008

Last weekend, the Wildcat Cross Country team put their stamina up against five local teams in South Effingham.  Although the boys finished 5th and the girls finished 4th, the loss was not devastating.

There were many triumphant moments for the Wildcats. David Cassidy, a senior at Richmond Hill High, finished 4th overall against the fastest runners in the area, and Kerry Riviera ended with the 2nd place overall.

Our own Tyler Carlson was expected to take it home for the Wildcats but did not compete due to an injury. In fact, five of the Wildcat’s best female runners were out due to prior commitments, which also hurt the Wildcats’ score.

The wildcats have many more competitions left and hope to work their way to the top. Their biggest goals are to stay as a team and make it to state.  When asked about the future of the team, senior runner, James Berry, said, “We’re going to increase our workouts and try to stay healthy to prepare for our next competition.”

Keep an eye out this week as we profile the running phenomenon that is Tyler Carlson!
