South Effingham Senior Katie Rietkovich has verbally committed to play softball at the University of Georgia next year. The four year starter joins Savannah Country Day's Katherine Dotson in selecting to hit the field and the books in the SEC. Dotson is headed to Tennessee.
In addtion to playing for the Lady Mustangs, Katie played travel ball her entire career for the South Effingham Angels. She will be the first player from South Effingham HS and Effingham County to ever sign a softball scholarship with an SEC school.
Rietkovich has a batting average of .479 this season. South Effingham will be looking for their third straight trip to the Elite Eight.
