Frank's Army: Homecoming Week At BC by Benedictine

Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Last week Benedictine Military School celebrated a hugely successful Homecoming Week.  The five days of contests, characters and school spirit ended with a 63-50 victory over Long County.  This improved BC’s record to 4-1 overall, and 2-1 in Region 2-AA.

The week got off to a great start with dozens of students participating in Character Day. Students were required to portray their favorite character  from TV, movies or elsewhere. Among those who made appearances were Superman,  Spiderman, Senator Obama,  teachers at BC and various oddities.   Harry Potter, otherwise known as Holt DeMauro, was the winner.

On Twin Day, the Saunders twins, Matthew and Michael, pooled together with masked accomplice Patrick Whitten to win as gangster versions of the Chipmunks.

The next day the football practice field was the battleground for  water balloon fights after school. The upperclassmen, not surprisingly, defeated the underclassmen.

Homecoming T-shirts, designed by BC students, were worn on Friday.   A hot dog eating contest was also held that day.  11th grader, Cinnegar White, was the winner.

At half-time during the game Friday night, BC fans learned that Amanda Black won, with Elizabeth Buttimer and Sherrelle Jones taking 1st and 2nd runner up, respectively.

Many thanks goes to those faculty members and students who planned and organized the week’s activities and made it memorable for everyone!
