The Pirates (12-5, 1-1 PBC) collected 44 kills as a team, with just 10 errors in 85 attacks, the second-best hitting performance for AASU this season. For Augusta State, Jessica Howard and Amy Hunt each collected six kills on the night, while Ashley Zappitell notched seven digs to go with nine assists and Jessica Hanson collected five blocks.

Burton Sets New Mark In 6-0 Win At Georgia Southwestern
AMERICUS, Ga. - Junior forward Kristin Burton tallied a school-record four goals as the Armstrong Atlantic State women's soccer squad picked up a 6-0 Peach Belt Conference victory over host Georgia Southwestern State on Wednesday evening in Americus.
Burton's four goals snap the previous record of three, set by four different AASU players - including Burton herself, who had three career hat tricks coming into the match. She also tied her match record of eight points, set earlier in the season against Erskine.
The Ocala, Fla., native started the scoring in the fifth minute as Daviana Garcia's header found the foot of Burton, who drilled the shot from 12 yards out, giving the Pirates (5-3-2, 2-1-1 PBC) the 1-0 lead. In the 34th minute, seniors Jennifer Brian and Jamie Craine hooked up for a goal in the second consecutive match as Brian's throughball found Craine in the box, which she converted for her fourth goal of the season.
Burton then would add her second goal of the night, off of a pass from Craine, in the 40th minute - the 50th goal of her career, only the third player in the Peach Belt Conference to reach that plateau. Brian then added a goal in the 43rd minute on a header, converting a cross form Craine, to send the Pirates into intermission with a 4-0 lead.
Quickly after halftime, Burton would notch her fourth career hat trick as she scored off of a pass from Craine in the 47th minute - Craine's school record-tying third assist of the match. The All-American would then finish off the scoring in the 51st minute, delivering a goal off of a breakaway for her record fourth tally of the night.
The Pirates outshot the Hurricanes (3-8, 0-1 PBC) 30-2 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. Georgia Southwestern goalkeeper Christy Drabek made nine saves on the night. AASU goalkeepers Samantha Held and Tracey Mitchell combined on the shutout, with Mitchell making the only save in the match for the Pirates.
AASU returns to action on Saturday, October 4, with a 7:00 p.m. PBC matchup at GCSU in Milledgeville.
