Jonathan Myers

Meteorologist

In January 2006, Jonathan Myers began bringing the weather forecasts to the Low Country and the Coastal Empire. It is his pleasure to keep you informed about the day's weather. Jonathan can't remember a time when he was not intrigued by weather. Growing up in Eastern North Carolina gave him the opportunity to track hurricanes that threatened the coast. In third grade he wrote, "When I grow up I want to be a 'meterologst'." By fifth grade he wrote the local weather center to request a tour and to watch a live broadcast. Little did he know, that one day he would become the Weekend Meteorologist at that same station. Jonathan attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, pursuing a degree in meteorology. During that time he became an on-air meteorologist for the local cable channel 47, operated by FSU and seen throughout Tallahassee. After graduating from Florida State with a degree in meteorology in the spring of 2001, Jonathan became a team meteorologist for WBOY in Clarksburg, West Virginia. His career as a meteorologist was well on its way gaining valuable weather broadcasting experience. Jonathan was even chosen to be a Torchbearer for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games when the route to Salt Lake City made its way through Clarksburg. What an honor! In January 2002 Jonathan fulfilled a childhood dream and became the weekend meteorologist for WCTI in his hometown of New Bern, North Carolina. While there, he gained experience tracking three hurricanes that threatened the North Carolina coast. Now, Jonathan is glad to call the Coastal Empire his home. If he's not tracking weather, you'll probably find him working out, playing golf, enjoying water sports, or spending time with his family and friends. Email Jonathan at jmyers@wjcl.com.
